20 Week Appointment

Half-way there!!!

I can't believe it. It's exactly halfway thru this pregnancy and we are so happy...sitting here in the waiting room of the high risk specialist waiting for our ultrasound...Here's to no issues and a clean bill of health! Will report back after we're done.
-----------

So the visit went perfectly!  Baby girl is doing so well!  She is measuring exactly where she should be and currently weighs 13 ounces.  Doctor confirmed she has a 3 vessel umbilical chord, something we were very worried about...They did all the normal checks and especially focused around her heart with a ton of pictures.  Everything looks really good.

Here is my 20 week picture as well as some ultrasound pics.

Election 2012

So on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 we re-elected our current President of the United States, Barack Obama.

I have to say my husband and I are not political people so I normally would not be posting about the election but this year felt different. We are expecting our daughter in April 2013 so for the first time it actually mattered to us who was going to run this country and how his decisions would affect our baby girl's future.

So Obama won so he has another 4 years to finish what he started. Let's hope we are moving in the right direction!

Oh, and one more thing...this election was the first one for both of us where we could actually vote!!! I know some people born here take that right for granted but we definitely didn't.

We worked really hard to establish our US Citizenship and are grateful everyday for the liberties it affords us.

I woke my hubby up in the morning by humming the National Anthem...too much? :). What can I say, I was excited!!!

Here we are with our "I Voted" stickers!!!

Superstorm Sandy

This post is going to be out of order because I'm a little behind in my updates but I didn't want the week to pass without acknowledging what happened here this past Monday.

Last Monday night the Northeast encountered what they are calling a "Superstorm" because the characteristics of the storm don't exactly resemble any other type of storm we can identify.

The weather forecasts were predicting it pretty early so we tried to prepare my parent's house as best we could for what we were expecting to be heavy flooding. That area is known to flood so this was nothing new for us.

We set the house and then all headed to our place to settle in for the storm.
The storm brought rain and heavy wind gusts causing our electricity to flicker throughout the night and the windows to rattle in their frames... It was one of the most frightening things I've ever been through...truly felt like the windows would shatter.

We all were sitting in our living room watching the updates on the news all night long...finally we decided to call it a night when the tv kept turning off. We figured we'd be safer in bed, away from the windows.

We woke up on Tuesday morning with our electricity still on. We were so happy! Then we turned on the tv and saw the devastation Sandy had caused to the coastal towns and were just in shock. We have been through much devastation in our lives but that doesn't mean you enjoy it when it happens to others and you are spared.

Our hearts go out to all of those families affected by the storm and we thank God for looking out for us always.

Oh and one more thing... My parents house didn't flood but they didn't get away Scott free either...

17 Week Update

Ok so I'm 3 weeks behind with my updates so I'm going to play a little catch up the next couple of days.

At 17 weeks I was still feeling pretty lousy but ok otherwise. I was sleeping A LOT.

Here is a picture of the update board that Auntie Venesa put together. I never got to pose next to it (like I said, I was feeling pretty crappy that week).
